In a hot stone massage the therapist uses smooth, heated basalt stones as an extension of their hands — gliding them along the muscles with oil, and resting them on the back while working elsewhere. Warm muscle softens faster, so firm pressure feels easier.

Who shouldn’t have a hot stone massage?
Tell us when you book if you’re pregnant, diabetic, or have circulation problems, varicose veins, high blood pressure, recent sunburn or a skin condition. Hot stones aren’t right for everyone, and we’ll suggest another treatment if needed. If in doubt, check with your doctor.
Is hot stone massage relaxing or deep?
Both. The heat relaxes the muscle, and the therapist can still work firmly. Tell us which you’re after when you arrive.
What do I wear for a hot stone massage?
You undress to your comfort level and stay covered with a towel; only the area being worked on is uncovered.
